Monitoring the Hantavirus situation in QQ Care Centre

A few days ago, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), seven (7) passengers have been infected with Hantavirus on a cruise ship in Europe. On behalf of the agencies of QQ, QQ Care Centre would like to offer the deepest condolences to the families. 

ACTIONS THE AGENCIES OF QQ ARE TAKING

As of 11th of May 2026, it is very glad that there are zero (0) Hantavirus cases in Malaysia. Therefore, the risk assessment for this disease is close to none for now.

• QQadvisory™ will activate an Emergency Alert System (EAS) if the Hantavirus is surrounded within QQ Care Centre. The declaration of EAS will immediately be forwarded to members of QQ's registered emails, portal websites, social media and WhatsApp numbers.

• QQadvisory™ is currently working on a new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Hantavirus, which is similar to the COVID-19 SOPs.

• QQ Care Centre will ensure that the supply of masks and hand sanitizers are sufficient for all members of QQ.

• Members of QQ are encouraged to stay away from rodents like rat, mouse and mice.

• Members of QQ are urged to avoid any direct contact with the rodent and its waste (such as urine, poop, saliva or blood). If so, immediately wash and scrub the body part with soap and warm water.

• Members of QQ should NOT sweep or vacuum poop or urine produced by rodents, if for somehow a rodent was found in QQ Care Centre. By sweeping or vacuuming the poop or urine, particles will float around the house of QQ Care Centre which may contain the virus. Thus, members of QQ should just use tissues, wear gloves and a mask to pick up the waste - then wipe the floor with mop detergent and hand sanitizer.

The agencies of QQ, especially QQadvisory™, will continue to monitor the situation and will report to the members of QQ if the situation is worsen.
